Mai Ling speaks with her about her work as the co-creator of the Rehab Tech Summit and they dive into how the event started, who it is for, and some of the spin-off events. Rahemma also tackles the question of whether or not one needs to have clinical experience to move into the health tech/product development field. Raheema Hemraj is an Occupational Therapist and Gerontologist with a speciality in falls prevention. She has over 15 years of experience working with older adults to promote successful aging-in-place and is trained in multiple evidence-based falls prevention programs. Raheema is the founder of Grips+Gadgets, a company which seeks to connect healthtech startups with rehab professionals and the co-creator of the Rehab Tech Summit. She has worked with multiple companies to ensure their clinical relevance as they build products designed for care and has created a space to bring together rehab and industry in one place. Previously, Raheema led the clinical program at an early-stage company using AI to detect and prevent falls and she has worked in home care and as a home accessibility consultant. Raheema has a passion for preventative healthcare, utilizing technology to improve health outcomes, and enabling people of all ages to pursue their chosen life activities.
